In Vienna, the former imperial city, design has always
been a tradition. The basis for the latest top designs remains
the art nouveau masterpieces of the Wiener Werkstatte.

At the MAK
- Museum for Applied Arts,
you can admire Joseph Hoffmann's
hammered silver service and his silverware and vases
as well as furniture by Kolo Moser with
exquisite mother-of-pearl inlaid work, highly original
works by Dagobert Peche, and classical
design by Otto Wagner.
Precious glassware from the era can be found at Lobmeyr's,
fine fabrics from then and now at Backhausen's,
and fine china such as Hoffmann's 1929 melon service –,
today a design classic – at the Augarten
Manufacture.
Viennese furniture design from baroque to today is presented
at the Imperial
Furniture Depot Museum and at design
exhibitions of the Design
Forum at the MuseumsQuartier.
Fashion design is equally important in Vienna. With Wendy & Jim, Elfenkleid, Schella
Kann, and Kayiko & Co,
Vienna demonstrates its creative side. Hats by Muhlbauer,
jewelry by Florian Ladstatter, and sunglasses
by Beryll are
sure to complement your ensemble.
Viennese design for yourself or your loved ones can be
found in numerous shops and
antique dealers in the heart of the city as well as in
the Naschmarkt neighborhood.
Immerse yourself
in the great variety of design
– Vienna waits for you!
